Getting Started

WBC Network Health Monitor is provided to users that have service contracts with WBC Industrial Network Services as part of the service contract.

WBC Network Health Monitor does not have to be installed on a computer on which IntraVUE‎ is installed, but must be able to access any IntraVUE‎ using port 8765, the same as any browser accessing IntraVUE‎.

There is a requirement that any IntraVUE‎ which WBC Network Health Monitor accesses have a valid registration.

If you have any problems during installation, or at any other time, please contact support@WBC-INS.com

Note on Registration

There is no user registration of the software, registration is built into the software. The WBC Network Health Monitor software contains the product keys and expiration dates of all the currently covered IntraVUE‎ hosts. When support contracts are renewed there is a simple process to update the registration information in the software for all hosts at once.

Quick Start Steps

2. Update/Install the ivDashboard.war file on any IntraVUE‎s to be managed. See Update Intravue

3. Connect to the first IntraVUE‎

Open "Connect to IntraVUEs" under the Configure menu item. Select "Add Host".See Connecting to an IntraVUE‎

NOTE: After updating the IntraVUE‎ war file and connecting to the IntraVUE‎ with WBC Network Health Monitor, it may take several minutes for enough data to be collected before the charts and graphs have enough data to display results.

4. Best practices to complete for each IntraVUE‎

  • Identify the critical devices in your network. Use the Critical State Recommendations to eliminate the Unknown devices and use WBC Network Health Monitor's software to suggest better Critical States based on collected data.
  • Change the IntraVUE‎ default settings for which events are used in generated IntraVUE‎'s Analytics Report. The KPI Management dialog makes this a one click process. Note that WBC Network Health Monitor's data is based on device Critical States and always only uses the events WBC Industrial Network Services considers relevant (the suggested ones).
  • Set meaningful thresholds for IntraVUE‎'s Ping Response Time and Bandwidth Utilization. By default a device is set to 30 msec ping response and 30% transmit and receive bandwidth upon device discovery. Since virtually no users ever change these values, WBC Network Health Monitor will automatically update the thresholds once it has collected about 48 hours of threshold data. If you want to set or change these values based on analysis use the Threshold Analysis and Configuration Report which will recommend based on collected data.
  • In the Status Page, choose Generate Instant NHM PDF Status Report. This will do an analysis of the device and switch statistics, identify configuration issues not covered in alarms and warnings, and provide corrective action for any alarms or warnings identified. When first starting, this report should be generated often until the identified issues have been resolved. This will insure Intravue is configured as well as possible.
